Rolling Code Transmitters

Produced after 1996, rolling code transmitters change the coded signal each time the garage door opener is used. If there is no row of coded switches beneath the battery cover, it is a rolling code transmitter.

Fixed Code Transmitters

Produced prior to 1996, fixed code transmitters are manually programmed. To determine if your transmitter is fixed code, remove your battery cover. If there is a row of coded switches, it is a fixed code transmitter.

Safety Precautions

Before proceeding with your Car2U™ System setup and programming, it is necessary to review several important safety items.

Rolling Code Transmitter Instructions

Step 1

Firmly press the 2 outer Car2U System buttons for 1 to 2 seconds then release.
Step 2

Go to the garage to locate the garage door opener motor and press its "learn" button. You will have 10 to 30 seconds to return to your vehicle and complete the following steps.
Step 3

Press and hold the Car2U System button you would like to use to control the garage door. Immediately release the button once the garage door moves. When the button is released, the indicator light will begin to blink rapidly until programming is complete.
Step 4

Press and release the button again. The garage door should move, confirming that programming was successful. If your garage door does not operate, repeat the previous steps or download the complete "Programming Instructions."

Fixed Code Transmitter Instructions

Step 1

Open the battery cover and record the DIP switch settings from left to right for all 8 to 12 switches. (Use the figure below.)

Step 2

To input these positions, simultaneously press all 3 Car2U System buttons for a few seconds and then release to put the device into programming mode. The indicator lights will blink slowly. Enter your corresponding DIP switch settings from left to right, in order, into your Car2U System by pressing and releasing the buttons corresponding to the settings you circled.
Step 3

After inputting switch settings, simultaneously press all 3 Car2U System buttons and release. The indicator lights will turn on. Press and hold the Car2U System button you would like to use to control the garage door. Release the button once the garage door moves.
Step 4

The indicator light will blink rapidly until programming is complete. If your garage door opener does not operate following these steps, repeat the previous steps or download the complete "Programming Instructions."
